Pakistan March 2022: Suzuki Alto (+106.8%) breaks volume record, sales up 30.7%
The Suzuki Alto hits its highest share since October 2019.
Sales of new locally produced light vehicles surge 30.7% year-on-year in March to 27,202, leading to year-to-date volume up 26.9% to 69,476. Suzuki (+47.7%) easily beats the market to reach 55.3% share vs. 52.9% over Q1 2022. Toyota (+5.6%) and Honda (+15.8%) underperform unlike Hyundai (+80.6%). Below, JAC is up 29.5% and Isuzu down -20%. The Suzuki Alto (+106.8%) more than doubles its sales year-on-year to hit a mammoth 36.2% share, its highest since October 2019 (37%). It also breaks its volume record to just under 10,000 sales. The Toyota Corolla is estimated to clim 38.6% to 10.9% share vs. 11.5% YTD while the Toyota Yaris (-26.2%) should round out the podium with 9% vs. 9.5% over Q1. The Suzuki Wagon R (+67.1%), Toyota Fortuner (estimated +47.8%), and Hyundai Elantra (+676.1%) also outpace the market further down.
