Luxembourg March 2022: Mercedes #1, Tesla (+92.1%), Opel (+58.3%) impress in market down -12.7%
Opel sales are up 58.3% year-on-year in market down -12.7%.
The Luxembourg new car market skids down -12.7% year-on-year to 4,338 registrations, which means the year-to-date total is now off -8.9% to 11,347 units. Mercedes (-15.6%) takes advantage off Volkswagen’s freefall (-32.6%) to snap the brands top spot for the first time since last October with 9.8% share, a lower level than YTD (10.1%). Peugeot (+4.2%) is up three spots on February to land on the third step of the podium with 8% of the market vs. 7.5% YTD. Below we find Audi limiting its year-on-year fall to -2.6% and BMW imploding -33.2%. Tesla (+92.1%) surges 12 ranks on last month to #6 overall, a new ranking record for the brand, beating its previous best of #7 hit last December. Opel (+58.3%) lodges the 2nd best gain in the Top 10 but drops four spots on February to #8. Volvo (+15%) also goes against the market dynamics at #10. Further down, notice Dacia (+72.5%), Cupra (+25.5%), Jeep (+22.2%), Nissan (+16.4%) Porsche (+16.2%), Hyundai (+15%) and Kia (+14.7%) all sporting fantastic double-digit gains.
