The Toyota Corolla Cross is inside the Brazilian Top 10 this month.
The Brazilian new car market endures another heavy loss in March at -23.8% year-on-year to 134,904 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -24.8% to 374,533 or 123,000 less sales than over the First Quarter 2021. Below, Peugeot (+62.1%) and Kia (+46.8%) stand out with year-on-year upticks.
Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Strada (-26.3%) remains the overall best-seller despite losing slightly more ground than the market resulting in a 5.6% share vs. 5.8% year-to-date. The Hyundai HB20 (-13.8%) resists much better and climbs up one spot on last month to #2 while the Fiat Mobi (-2.1%) is almost stable and rises 7 ranks on February to #3. The VW T-Cross (+23.8%) manages to deliver a double-digit gain but stays at #4 ahead of the Chevrolet Onix (-31.7%) whose recovery is interrupted after rising to #2 last month. The Chevrolet Tracker (-25.9%) is up 6 spots on last month to a cool 6th place distancing the Jeep Compass (-9.3%) and Fiat Toro (-33.8%) evolving on each side of the market. At #9, the new Toyota Corolla Cross secures its second Brazilian Top 10 finish after last August (#8) while the Hyundai Creta (-31.3%) is down one rank rot round out the Top 10. Below, the Toyota Hilux (+22.8%), Chevrolet S10 (+81.9%), Peugeot 208 (+196.5%), Hyundai HB20S (+14.6%) and Honda City (+213.7%) impress with stellar gains.
