Croatia February 2022: Jeep Compass up to #2 in market off -15.4%

The Jeep Compass is up to #2 in Croatia in February.

The Croatian new car market skids down -15.4% year-on-year in February to 2,910 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -7.4% over the same period in 2021. Skoda (-18.4%) retains the pole position despite falling faster than the market, it takes advantage of the crumbling of Volkswagen (-55.2%) which was #1 a year ago and over the Full Year 2021. Kia (+18.2%) goes against the market drop and remains in third place overall above sister brand Hyundai (-3.4%) up one spot on January to #4. Toyota (+53.8%) is also up one rank on last month to #5 and delivers the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 8. Audi (+69.9%), Mazda (+68.3%) and Opel (+34%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Dacia (-28%) and Renault (-32.2%) struggle. Just outside the Top 10, Ford (+515%) scores a surreal uptick with Cupra (+428.6%), Volvo (+118.2%), Mini (+77.8%) and Jeep (+32.5%) also impressive further down.

The Skoda Octavia (-20.3%) remains the runaway leader this month, selling almost twice any other nameplate with 6.2% share. The Jeep Compass (+29.3%) is up two spots on January to 2nd place, its highest since last August when it topped the charts outright. The Hyundai Kona is up 17 ranks on last month to reach the third step with 2.9% share, distancing the Renault Clio (-31.4%), Dacia Duster (-40.6%) and Hyundai Tucson (-43.7%) all in freefall. The Toyota Corolla is up 11 spots to #7 ahead of the Kia Stonic (-5.6%), Opel Mokka and Skoda Kodiaq (+52.4%). The Toyota C-HR (#14), Ford Focus (#15) and Mazda CX-30 (#16) also impress while the VW Taigo lodges a second consecutive month in the Top 20 at #18.
