Denmark January 2022: Kia EV6 #5, Toyota Yaris Cross #6 in market off -8.3%
The Kia EV6 is up to #5 in Denmark in January.
The Danish new car market recedes -8.3% year-on-year in January to 9,407 registrations. Toyota (+43.8%) ignore the negative environment to take hold of the brands pole position with 9.1% share vs. 8% over the FY2021. Volkswagen (-18.2%) is toppled to #2 and 8.7% vs. 10.5% over FY2021. Peugeot (-19.7%) is also down one spot on December to #3 whereas Kia (+81.9%) is up six to #4 and scores the largest year-on-year again in the Top 10. Ford (+29%), Hyundai (+4.8%) and Citroen (+2.7%) are also up but Mercedes (-46.8%), BMW (-45.6%) and Skoda (-17.8%) struggle. Below, note Cupra (+240%) outselling sister brand Seat (-82.3%).
Model-wise, the Citroen C3 (+47.4%) reclaims the top spot for the first time since April 2021 with 4.6% share vs. 2.8% over the Full Year 2021. The Peugeot 208 (+16.4%) is up two spots on December to #2 while last year’s winner the Ford Kuga (+51.5%) is down one rank to #3. The Toyota Yaris (+37.2%) is up 19 spots on last month to #4 just as the Kia EV6 climbs two ranks to break into the Danish Top 5 for the first time at #5. It is followed by another recent launch: the Toyota Yaris Cross up a whopping 59 spots to #6. The rest of the Top 10 posts at least double-digit gains, wth the Hyundai Kona (+197.2%) the most dynamic ahead of the Kia Ceed (+165.3%), VW Polo (+38%) and Peugeot 2008 (+18.4%). Notice also the new VW Taigo at #16.
