Poland Full Year 2021: Toyota places Corolla and Yaris atop market up 4.5%

The Polish new car market is up 4.5% year-on-year in 2021 to 438,180 registrations despite a month of December freefalling -29.2% year-on-year at 35,421 units. Toyota (+19.1%) vastly outpaces the market to cement its domination at 16.7% share, two percentage points above its 2020 level. In contrast, Skoda (-20%) skids down and loses three percentage points of share, going from 13.4% to 10.3%. Kia (+34%) is also extremely dynamic and steps up one spot to #3, dislodging Volkswagen (-16.7%) from the podium. Hyundai (+45.8%), BMW (+31%) and Audi (+21.6%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 while further down, Suzuki (+43.9%) breaks into the Top 15 thanks to a fantastic gain.
Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Corolla soars 26.2% year-on-year to snap the annual crown off the Skoda Octavia (-29.7%). It is the first time since 2004 (Fiat Panda) that a Skoda doesn’t top the Polish charts. It doesn’t stop there for Toyota who manages an impressive 1-2 as it places the Yaris (-5.8%) in 2nd place. The Dacia Duster (-2.1%) remains in 4th position above the Toyota RAV4 (+14.7%) overtaking the Skoda Fabia (-12.6%) for #5. The Hyundai Tucson (+49.2%), Toyota C-HR (+16.8%) and Kia Ceed (+26.3%) also impress while the Hyundai i30 and Kia Sportage both break into the Top 10, starting from outside the 2020 Top 15.
