Oman 9 months 2021: Toyota Hilux tops market up 7.8%
The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in Oman so far this year.
The Omani new vehicle market is up 7.8% year-on-year over the first 9 months of 2021 to 54,646 registrations. Brand leader Toyota (+20.9%) vastly outpaces the market to improve its share to a suffocating 47.5% vs. 42.4% over the same period in 2020. Nissan (-42.8%) on the other hand struggles mightily but still holds 15.8% of the Omani market over the period. Hyundai (+54.2%) and most impressively MG (+142.3%) both excel just below. Isuzu (+67.4%), Honda (+49.9%), Mitsubishi (+39.3%) and Mazda (+39.1%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Ram (+118.5%), Land Rover (+87.4%), Cadillac (+80.6%), GMC (+79.8%), Chevrolet (+60.7%), Ford (+52.5%) and Jeep (+44%) stand out.
Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Hilux (+71.1%) soars to first place, dislodging the Nissan Sunny (-9.2%). The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+22.8%) is also very dynamic in third place, distancing the Toyota Land Cruiser (-1.8%) and Toyota Hiace (+37.6%). The MG5 (+161.9%) scores the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10 at #10, with the Hyundai Tucson (+118%) also more than doubling its sales year-on-year. The Ram Pickup (+118.5%), MG6 (+118.5%), MG HS (+110.3%), Mazda6 (+99%) and MG RX8 (+93.6%) also make themselves noticed further down. The Kia Sonet (#52) is the best-selling recent launch ahead of the Nissan Xterra (#54), Changan CS95 (#55) and Changan CS85 (#65).
