Finland November 2021: Volvo (+47.2%), Opel (+73.2%) defy market down -10%

Volvo XC60 sales are up 150% year-on-year in November.

The Finnish new car market drops -10% year-on-year in November to 6,569 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 3.5% to 89,389. Toyota (-21.6%) easily keeps the lead of the brands ranking despite falling much faster than the market, it holds a 14.2% share vs. 15.4% YTD. Volvo (+47.2%) is the best performer in the Top 9 with a splendid uptick that lifts the brand to 12.1% share vs. 8.1% YTD. Volkswagen (-26.5%) rounds out the podium ahead of Kia (+18.7%) also in great shape. Opel (+73.2%), BMW (+38%) and Peugeot (+33.5%) also post fantastic scores as opposed to Ford (-52.3%) and Renault (-35.8%) falling just outside the Top 10 for the month. Tesla (+300%), Fiat (+116.7%), Porsche (+100%), Mazda (+83.1%) and Hyundai (+34.8%) also impress further down while Polestar breaks into the Top 30 for the first time at #20.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+9.7%) remains the best-seller and even gains ground year-on-year, it is followed this month by two Volvos: the XC60 (+150%) and V60 (22.3%). Below, both the VW Polo (+101%) and Volvo XC40 (+101%) more than double their sales year-on-year while the Kia Ceed (+29.4%) is down three spots on October to #6. The Toyota C-HR (+409.4%), Peugeot 2008 (+100%) and Toyota RAV4 (+8%) also manage a gain in the remainder of the Top 10. The only recent launch in the Top 30, the VW ID.4 is down 10 ranks on last month to #19.
