Turkey July 2021: Hyundai (+28.4%), Kia (+8.9%) buck market down -45.2%

Hyundai sales are up 28.4% in a market down -45.2% in July.

1/09 update: Now with Top 25 models.

New light vehicle sales in Turkey sink by a ghastly -45.2% year-on-year in July to 47.849 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 29.6% to 442.550. The 7-month figure is up 107.7% on 2019, up 9% on 2018 but down -8.5% on 2017. Fiat (-58.3%) remains by far the most popular carmaker in the country at 14.8% share despite falling significantly faster than the market. It distances Volkswagen (-21.8%) relatively solid and Ford (-54.8%) also in difficulty. Dacia (-8.9%) climbs up three spots on June to #4 as it manages to keep its fall in the single-digits. Hyundai (+28.4%) completely bucks the negative trend in 5th place with a fantastic year-on-year gain to 8.4% share vs. 4.5% so far this year. Toyota (-4.7%) also resists well in 6th place while Kia (+9.4%) signs the only additional year-on-year gain in the Top 10. Renault (-77.1%) is hit particularly hard and falls five ranks on last month to #7 vs. #3 so far this year. Outside the Top 10 and in sales order, Nissan (+3.5%), Iveco (+72.9%), Mini (+175.7%), Isuzu (+110.7%), Alfa Romeo (+50%), Jaguar (+57.1%) and Aston Martin (+100%) sign the only other year-on-year upticks in the market.

Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Egea (-64.5%) remains dominant but loses almost two-thirds of its year-ago sales to end the month at 9% share. The Ford Transit/Tourneo Courier (-40.9%) is up two spots on June to #2, distancing the Toyota Corolla (-5.6%) and VW Passat (-2%) both resisting very solidly. The Dacia Duster (-46.1%) matches the market and rallies back up five ranks on last month to #5 overall, with the Hyundai i20 also up five to #6. The Honda Civic (-18.1%) and Fiat Doblo (-30.2%) lose less ground than the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas the Renault Clio (-72.7%) and Ford Transit/Tourneo (-56.4%) implode. Further down, notice the Dacia Sandero (+35.5%) soaring to #11 vs. #21 year-to-date, the Dacia Dokker up to #12 vs. #22 and the Kia Stonic breaking into the Turkish Top 25 for the first time at #16.
