Slovenia August 2021: Renault Captur and VW T-Cross top market down -19%
The Renault Captur is the best-selling vehicle in Slovenia in August.
The Slovenian new car market is off -19% year-on-year in August to 3.529 registrations, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up by just 0.5% at 38.971 units. Volkswagen (+18.5%) is the only Top 4 brand lodging a positive result, climbing to 18.5% share vs. 17.3% so far this year. Reversely Skoda (-31.4%), Renault (-26%) and Hyundai (-21.3%) all fall faster than the market below. Ford (+70.5%), Toyota (+20.8%), Fiat (+17.8%) and Kia (+0.9%) all defy the negative context in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Peugeot (-59.8%) and Citroen (-23.6%) both crumble. Year-on-year gains are rare further down and include Porsche (+50%), Suzuki (+38%), Mazda (+20.4%), Honda (+18.2%), Volvo (+15.8%) and BMW (+6%).
Model-wise, the Renault Captur (+92.1%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to sign its first win since July 2020, it ranks #5 year-to-date. Only 3 sales below, the VW T-Cross (+273.3%) just misses out on a third straight pole position and advances to #2 year-to-date while the VW Polo is also down one spot on July to #3 vs. #8 YTD. The Fiat 500 (+47.8%) is up 7 ranks on last month to #4, distancing the Skoda Octavia (-40.6%) and Toyota Yaris (+31.4%). The Kia Sportage (+70.8%) also shines at #7 whereas the Renault Clio (-65.4%) and Peugeot 2008 (-57.8%) both implode. The VW T-Roc (-5.1%) is up 10 spots on July to round out the Top 10 at #10. The Citroen C4 (#31) is the best-selling recent launch in the country at #31 ahead of the VW ID.4 (#33), Hyundai Bayon (#38), VW ID.3 (#58) and Opel Mokka (#61).
