Luxembourg August 2021: Mercedes best-seller in market off -23.9%

Mercedes is the best-selling carmaker in Luxembourg in August.

New car sales in Luxembourg skid down -23.9% year-on-year in August to 2.792 units, leading to a year-to-date tally now up just 7% to 32.063. Mercedes (-24.9%) signs its first monthly win since last January at 11.1% share vs. 9.9% so far this year where it ranks #3. BMW (-37.7%) is in freefall but gains one spot on July to #2 just as Volkswagen (+25.8%) catches up on a dreadful year-ago score but drops two ranks on last month to #3. Audi (-20.7%) and Peugeot (-31.4%) round out the Top 5 ahead of struggling Skoda (-44%) and Renault (-30.4%). Ford (-14.8%), Fiat (-5.8%) and Opel (-5.3%) fare better in the remainder of the Top 10. Just below, Hyundai (+13%), Volvo (+12.9%) and Citroen (+11.5%) impress, while further down Jeep (+6.7%), Ferrari (+33.3%) and Aston Martin (+100%) stand out.
