Croatia August 2021: Jeep Compass surprise leader in market up 9.3%

The Jeep Compass is the best-selling vehicle in Croatia in August.

The Croatian new car market is up 9.3% year-on-year in August to 2.841 units, keeping in mind August 2020 volumes were down -23.9% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally now stands at 34.619, up 37.6% on the same period in 2020. After being toppled by Opel in July, this month Volkswagen (-4.9%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date thanks to 14.5% share, in line with its YTD level. Opel surges 139% year-on-year but drops to #2 while Kia (+69.7%) is up two spots on last month to #3 and 8.5% vs. 6.3% year-to-date. Below a struggling Skoda (-31.4%), Hyundai (+37.6%) soars four ranks to #5 while Jeep (+173.7%) surges 15 spots to #6. Mazda (+147.1%), Toyota (+32.4%) and Dacia (+12.9%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10.

Over in the models ranking, we have a surprise co-leader: the Jeep Compass scores its second Top 10 finish of the year after ranking #9 last February but this time it is the outright lead equal with the Skoda Octavia (-18.2%). The VW Polo (-8.7%) is up three spots on last month to land on the third step of the podium ahead of the Opel Corsa (+94.1%) still leader year-to-date. The Dacia Sandero (+51.4%) rounds out the Top 5 above the Opel Crossland, VW T-Cross (+27.3%) and Kia Stonic (+145.2%). Notice also the Kia Sportage up to #9, the Hyundai Kona up to #13, Mazda CX-5 up to #14 and the BMW 3 Series up to #16.
