Uruguay July 2021: Fiat reclaims top spot in market up 27.7%
Fiat is the best-selling carmaker in Uruguay in July and year-to-date.
New light vehicle sales in Uruguay climb 27.7% year-on-year in July to 3.751 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 75.2% to 28.405. This month Fiat (+124.6%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date with a very strong 20.4% share. It distances Volkswagen (+17.2%) trailing the market but reclaiming the 2nd spot year-to-date off Renault (+1.8%) which led the charts last month but is now down to #3. Hyundai (+151.7%) and Toyota (+143.9%) lodge surreal year-on-year gains in the remainder of the Top 10, with Citroen (+39.8%) and Nissan (+31.2%) both solid and Suzuki (+20%) and Peugeot (+14.5%) a little too shy. Meanwhile Chevrolet (-55.3%) implodes in 9th place. GWM (+87.1%) surges 15 spots on last month to become the best-selling Chinese carmaker in the country at #11 overall, ahead of Changan (+87.5%) up 7 ranks to #13, Chery (-18.5%) down three to #14 and BYD (+77.8%) down five to #17. Geely (+16.7%) and Karry (+73.3%) make it 6 Chinese brands inside the July Top 20.
