Poland July 2021: Dacia Duster teases Toyota Corolla for #1 in market off -7.9%
The Dacia Duster misses out on the Polish top spot for just 24 sales in July.
The Polish new car market is off -7.9% year-on-year to 38.047 sales, keeping in mind July 2020 was already down -14% on the year prior. The year-to-date volume now stands at 275.758 units, up 26.4% on the same period a year ago. Toyota (+17.3%) braves the negative context with a double-digit gain and widens the gap with other manufacturers at 15.1% share, albeit below its year-to-date level of 16.6%. Skoda (-31.7%) and Volkswagen (-33%) are hit hard below, whereas Kia (+37.6%) surges ahead to stay in third place. Hyundai (+78.5%) does even better and climbs to 7.4% share vs. 5.5% so far this year. Audi (+35.4%) and BMW (+21.8%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 while Fiat (+10.5%) also bucks the negative trend further down. Notice also devastating results by Renault (-43.7%), Peugeot (-58%) and Opel (-67.9%).
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (-4%) remains the best-selling vehicle in the country but it is teased this month by the Dacia Duster (-12.1%) just 24 units below and the Toyota Yaris (-8.4%) 47 sales off. The Corolla and Yaris remains the two best-sellers year-to-date. Below we find the Skoda Fabia (+12.6%) bucking the negative trend, the Toyota RAV4 (+67.2%) and Hyundai Tucson (+125.6%) both scoring fantastic lifts. The Hyundai i30 (+120%), Kia Sportage (+50.2%) and Fiat Tipo (+21.9%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas the Skoda Octavia (-45.5%) implodes to #7 vs. #3 so far this year and #1 last year. Further down, the Audi Q5 (+203.4%), Dacia Sandero (+97.3%), Toyota Aygo (+79.3%), Kia Xceed (+77.8%) and Ford Puma (+75.2%) all stun. The Mazda CX-30 is up a further 13 spots on June to #27, the Audi A4 returns to the Top 50 at #31 and the Opel Mokka progresses six ranks on last month to #42.
