Luxembourg July 2021: Seat (+26%), Toyota (+21.7%), Opel (+16.5%) defy market sinking -27.7%
Seat sales are up 26% in a market down -27.7%
New car sales in Luxembourg skid down by a ghastly -27.7% year-on-year in July to 3.984 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 11.3% to 29.271. Volkswagen (-10.3%) and Mercedes (-15.7%) both resist much better than the market atop the brands charts with improved 14% and 10.6% share respectively. It is not the case for followers BMW (-30.8%) and Audi (-31.1%) while Skoda (-25.1%) just edges past the market loss in 5th place. In fact it’s Hyundai (-1.1%) that resists the best near the top at #6. Seat (+26%) is up 7 spots on June to land in 8th place with 4% share vs. #14 and 2.6% so far this year, and manages the only year-on-year gain in the Top 10. Below and in sales order, Opel (+16.5%), Kia (+6.9%), Toyota (+21.7%) are the only gainers in the Top 30, with Mazda (-2.3%) and Ferrari (-5.6%) resisting well. Newcomers Cupra (#26) and Polestar (#38) both gain ground vs. last month.
