Slovenia June 2021: Volkswagen (+39.4%) can’t prevent steep market fall (-21.1%), T-Cross signs third ever win
The VW T-Cross is the best-selling vehicle in Slovenia in June.
Slovenia is a rare European market to show a year-on-year decline in June at -21.1% to 5.176 units. The year-to-date tally is now up 10.7% to 31.009 sales. Brand leader Volkswagen (+39.4%) vastly outpaces the market to hit 20.2% share vs. 17% YTD, selling exactly double the #2 Renault (-64.2%) freefalling but remaining at 10.1% share like YTD. Skoda (-16.8%) drops to 9.6% share vs. 12.3% so far this year while Dacia (-31.4%) is also in trouble but gains 6 spots on May to #4. Seat (+59.1%) and Hyundai (+8.7%) are the only remaining Top 10 brands in positive, just as Peugeot (-42.5%), Kia (-39.6%) and Citroen (-32.3%) implode. Below, Tesla (+3300%), Porsche (+70%), Audi (+47.1%), Mazda (+42.3%), Suzuki (+33.3%), Mercedes (+31%), BMW (+23.3%) and Ford (+16.1%) make themselves noticed.
Over in the models ranking, the VW T-Cross (+479.1%) is up 6-fold year-on-year to sign a third ever monthly win after September 2019 and April 2021 at 4.8% share, it ranks #3 year-to-date. The Dacia Duster (-35.4%) is down significantly on a year ago but up 11 spots on May to end the month at #2, distancing the Renault Clio (-78.2%) coming off a particularly high year-ago base when it held 14.4% market share. The VW T-Roc (+61%) and Skoda Kodiaq (+98.6%) close out the Top 5 in very dynamic fashion. The VW Polo (+68%), Hyundai Tucson (+10.3%) and VW Tiguan (+3.3%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 just as the Skoda Kamiq (-13%) and Dacia Sandero (-3.8%) skid down but still do better than the market. The Citroen C4 is the best-selling recent launch at #57, one unit above the Hyundai Bayon (#58) new for the month.
