The Singaporean new car market is down a tough -38.5% year-on-year in 2020 to 44.465 units, marking a third consecutive year of double-digit decline. We have a change of guard atop the brands ranking: Toyota (-40.4%) becomes the most popular carmaker even though its market share tilts down to 17.3% from 17.9% in 2019. Mercedes (-16.3%) is also up one spot on 2019 to land in 2nd place with a much improved 14.8% share vs. 10.8% a year ago. Leader in 2019, Honda (-58.6%) implodes and drops from 21.2% share to just 14.3% this year. BMW (-18.6%) and Mazda (-22.1%) also outpace the market and round out the Top 5. Audi (-10.4%), Volkswagen (-22.7%) and Nissan (-34.4%) also gain share in the remainder of the Top 10 but Hyundai (-60.4%) and Kia (-53.5%) struggle.
