Greece June 2021: Opel Corsa best-seller, sales up 5.6% on pre-pandemic
The Opel Corsa is the best-selling vehicle in Greece in June.
The Greek new car market bounces back up 68.2% year-on-year in June to 13.875 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 59.6% to 58.362. Sales have returned to pre-pandemic levels, with June 2021 actually up 5.6% on June 2019 (13.133) while the year-to-date figure remains down at -11% vs. 65.557. The Top 4 brands all fit within one percentage point of market share this month. Toyota (+31%) trails the market but reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date at 9.7%, followed by Hyundai (+111.6%) up two spots to #2 and 9.2%, Peugeot (+48.5%) down two to #4 and 9.1% and Volkswagen (+69.9%) down one to #5 and 8.7%. Kia (+313.7%), Renault (+155.6%), Fiat (+139.1%), Opel (+96.2%) and Suzuki (+92.4%) all impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, notice Tesla (+11100%), Jaguar (+1900%), Jeep (+192.7%), Lexus (+166.7%) and Mazda (+90.9%) all posting surreal gains.
Over in the models ranking, the Opel Corsa (+99.6%) edges up one spot on May to sign its first monthly win in Greece since September 2016 and the first win for this generation. The Toyota Yaris (-15.4%) is down year-on-year but rallies back up 3 ranks on last month to end the month at #2, distancing the Hyundai i10 (+166.7%) up 9 spots to #3. Leader last month, the Peugeot 208 (+145.7%) is down to #4 but remains in outstanding shape, as is the Kia Stonic (+286.8%) breaking into the Greek Top 5 for the second time ever after December 2019 (#5). The Peugeot 2008 (+335.5%) is up two spots on May to #6 ahead of the Renault Clio (+182.1%), Nissan Micra (+220.9%), VW T-Roc (+100.6%) and Toyota Aygo (+146.3%) all vastly outpacing the market in the remainder of the Top 10. The best-selling recent launch is the Opel Mokka (#52) above the Citroen C4 (#64) and VW ID.3 (#91).
