Austria June 2021: Fiat 500 lineup takes control of market down -2.2%
The Fiat 500 lineup ranks #1 both in June and year-to-date in Austria.
The Austrian new car market edges down -2.2% year-on-year in June to 26.075, a poor result as June 2020 was already down -18% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally is now up 19.2% to 134.396. Atop the brands charts, both Volkswagen (-6.6%) and Skoda (-22.2%) underperform to 15.4% and 9% share respectively. Seat (+7.1%) bucks the negative trend to return to the third place it holds year-to-date, as does BMW (-10.4%) back to #4. Fiat (+62.6%), Hyundai (+35.6%) and Audi (+20.4%) post the largest gains in the Top 10. Tesla (+176%) is up 9 spots on May to #14 while MG (+500%), Jaguar (+45.3%), Toyota (+23.2%), Land Rover (+22.4%) and Mazda (+19.6%) score solid results.
Model-wise, the Fiat 500 lineup (+88.3%) – that includes the 500L and 500X – takes control of the charts both for the month and year-to-date as the previous leader, the Skoda Octavia (-62.9%) implodes down to #8 in June. The Tesla Model 3 (+229%) shoots back up to 2nd place with 3.1% share and is now #5 year-to-date vs. #19 over the Full Year 2020. Four Volkswagens follow with various fortunes: the Golf (-11.9%), Bus (+71.1%), T-Roc (-37.3%) and T-Cross (-15.1%). The Hyundai Tucson (+130.8%) is down five spots on May to #9 but delivers the second largest year-on-year gain in the Top 20. Notice also the BMW X3 (+78.4%), Opel Corsa (+46.4%), Seat Ateca (+33.1%) and Renault Megane (+26.4%) all very solid. As for recent launches, the Skoda Enyaq is down 11 ranks on last month to #19 while the VW ID.4 remains at #20 and the VW ID.3 steps out of the Top 20 vs. #7 in May.
