Argentina June 2021: Toyota and Fiat Cronos top market up 3.8%
The Fiat Cronos is #1 in Argentina for the 10th consecutive month.
The Argentinean new vehicle market edges up 3.8% year-on-year in June to 37.621 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 36.9% to 208.184. Toyota (+88.9%) brilliantly holds onto the brands pole position thanks to the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 15, it reaches 18.6% share vs. 18.8% so far this year. Volkswagen (-3.6%) goes against the market uptick but remains in 2nd place as it is year-to-date. Fiat (+23.5%) surges ahead at #3 while Renault (-15.5%) is in difficulty but ensures the Top 4 brands are identical to the YTD order. Only Peugeot (+9.8%) at #5 also manage to outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10, with all remaining carmakers underperforming: Citroen (+3.5%) and Nissan (+2.1%) manage a small lift but Jeep (-3.6%) and more worryingly Chevrolet (-52.7%) and Ford (-39.8%) are in negative. Further down, notice Agrale (+790%), Scania (+71.6%), Iveco (+43%) and Mercedes (+21.3%) posting splendid gains.
Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Cronos (+335.6%) lodges a 10th consecutive monthly win with 9.3% share vs. 9.5% so far this year. A new, more affordable variant was just launched and should help at least maintain this level of sales in Argentina. The entire Top 5 is unchanged on May and the YTD order, with the Toyota Hilux (+67.1%) taking 2nd spot above the VW Amarok (+45.5%), Gol (+6.4%) and Toyota Etios (+81.6%). The Ford Ranger (+18%) is up 6 spots on May to land in 6th place, distancing the Peugeot 208 (+16.8%) and Toyota Yaris (+83%). Among recent launches (<12 months), the VW Nivus is the best-seller, up 7 ranks on last month to #14, it is followed by the Toyota Corolla Cross down one to #18, the Renault Alaskan up three to #32, the Ford Bronco Sport down five to #37 and the Ford Territory down nine to #42. This month we welcome the VW Taos at #53.
