Austria April 2021: VW T-Roc scores first ever win, Skoda Enyaq lands at #11

The VW T-Roc is the best-selling vehicle in Austria for the first time.

New car sales in Austria rally back up 97.6% year-on-year in April to 22.296 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 30.1% to 85.818. Note April 2021 volumes remain down a harsh -30.2% on April 2019. Volkswagen (+133.8%) outpaces the market to reach a solid 17.5% share vs. 16.4% so far this year but Skoda (+51.8%) markedly underperforms yet still scores a higher share than YTD at 10% vs. 9.3%. Seat (+219.7%), Audi (+188.1%) and Mercedes (+152.9%) all post stellar results just below while Fiat (+216.5%) and Opel (+158.6%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10.

Model-wise, the VW T-Roc (+310.7%) scores its first ever monthly win in Austria with 2.9% share, overcoming the year-to-date leader, the Skoda Octavia (+74.3%) at 2.7%. The VW Golf (+198%) edges up one spot on March to #3 but remains at a paltry 6th place so far in 2021. The Fiat 500 (incl. 500X and 500L) is the only non-VW Group model in the Top 14 and ends the month at #4. The Seat Leon (+578.7%), Ibiza (+441.2%) and VW Polo (+268.8%) also score fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10. We have three recent launches in the Top 15: the VW ID.3 at #9, the Skoda Enyaq landing directly at #11 for its first month in market and the VW ID.4 at #14. Notice also the Audi A3 (+585.7%) and Mini Cooper (+204.3%) shining further down.
