Uruguay April 2021: Suzuki and Chevrolet top market up 232.6%

Suzuki is the best-selling carmaker in Uruguay in April.

New light vehicle sales are up 232.6% year-on-year in Uruguay in April to 4.101 units on locked down year-ago volumes. The year-to-date tally is now up 69.7% year-on-year to 15.932 units. Suzuki (+126.5%) takes the lead of the brands ranking despite trailing the market growth by a significant margin, holding 18.8% of the market vs. 27.6% a year ago. It ranks third year-to-date. Chevrolet (+516.5%) advances to 2nd place with 16.4% share vs. 12.6% so far this year (#2), while Volkswagen (+281.7%), Renault (+674.5%) and Hyundai (+404.1%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 5. In contrast Fiat (+71.7%) loses significant share at a paltry 5.3% this month but remains in the year-to-date lead at 16.2%. Chinese carmakers hold 7.5% of the Uruguayan market in April vs. 6.2% so far this year. Best-sellers are GWM (+2750%) at #11 and Chery (+183.3%) at #12 ahead of Dongfeng (+100%), BYD (+1300%) and Changan (+300%).
