New Caledonia (France) April 2021: Citroen surges to brands top spot in market back up 128.3%

Citroen sales are up 4-fold year-on-year in New Caledonia.

New Caledonia is a French overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia. New car sales here bounce back up 128.3% year-on-year on lockdown-impacted year-ago volumes to 767 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 14% to 2.334. We have a surprise in pole position of the brands ranking: Citroen (+295.5%) more than doubles the market growth rate to become the best-seller for the month at a stellar 11.3% share. Dacia (+100%) is back to the 2nd place it holds year-to-date, outselling YTD leader Toyota (-43%) by just one unit. Hyundai (+231.6%) and Peugeot (+375%) close out the Top 5 in impressive fashion. Nissan (+1200%) and Suzuki (+260%) also stand out in the remainder of the Top 10 with Renault (+169.2%) and Kia (+146.7%) also beating the market but Ford (+69%) shy in context.

In the models ranking, the Dacia Duster (+92.6%) is back up 4 spots on March to score the top spot, also reclaiming the year-to-date pole position it held over the Full Year 2020. The Citroen C3 (+700%) is up from outside the March Top 20 directly into 2nd place with 5.2% share vs. 2.4% so far this year. It distances the Mitsubishi Sportero/L200 (+333.3%) and a Ford Ranger (+43.8%) in difficulty. The Nissan Navara (+2100%), Toyota Hilux (-51.2%) and Kia K2700 (+375%) make it five pickup trucks in the Top 7. Notice also the Peugeot 208 (+433.3%) making a splash at #8.
