Kuwait January-April 2021: Nissan Sunny teases Toyota Land Cruiser for #1 in market up 44.4%
The Nissan Sunny is up to #2 in Kuwait so far in 2021.
The Kuwaiti new light vehicle market is up 44.4% year-on-year over the first four months of 2021 to 34.058 units vs. 23.589 over the corresponding period last year. Toyota still leads by an overwhelming margin but sees its share drop from 33.6% over the Full Year 2020 to 27.2% this time. In reverse, Nissan improves from 9.4% to 12.4% and Mitsubishi climbs up two spots from #5 and 6.3% to #3 and 7.7%, edging past Chevrolet for 22 units. Honda is also in great share and gains three ranks to land in 5th place above Lexus and Kia, but reversing course. GMC is up to 3.2% share and progresses to #10, knocking MG out of the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser remains the best-seller in Kuwait but drops from 8% share over the Full Year 2020 to 6.9%. In contrast, the Nissan Sunny leaps from #6 to #2 and from 2.6% to 6.6%, ending the period less than 100 sales below the Land Cruiser. The Toyota Camry and Hilux camp on their positions while the Toyota Prado is down three spots to #5. The Nissan Patrol improves its share to 2.9% but drops one rank to #6. Notice also the Honda Civic up 14 spots to #9 and the Chevrolet Captiva sliding outside the Top 10 at #11.
