Finland March 2021: Skoda Octavia reclaims #1 spot, Ford Kuga up to record #8 in market up 12.8%

New car sales in Finland gain 12.8% year-on-year in February to 10.189 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -1.4% to 27.423. Toyota (+17%) and Volkswagen (+23.9%) top the brands ranking and both post market-beating gains to cement their domination. Volkswagen however ranks #3 year-to-date behind Skoda (-6.9%). Nissan (+33.3%), Ford (+21.9%), Kia (+20.6%) and BMW (+16.9%) are all also in excellent shape whereas Volvo (-6.6%) struggles and Audi (+9.2%) can’t quite match the market growth. Below, Peugeot (+106.6%), Porsche (+66.7%), Citroen (+58.2%), Hyundai (+57.1%), Land Rover (+41.4%) and Opel (+20.5%) make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 25 brands.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+31.7%) reclaims the top spot off the Toyota Yaris (+85.4%) while last year’s leader, the Toyota Corolla (-25.7%), is in difficulty in third place. The Nissan Qashqai (+30.8%) rallies back up five spots on February to #4 while the Tesla Model 3 (+9.2%) is just under the market growth rate to finish the month at #5 vs. #4 a year ago in March 2020. The Toyota RAV4 (+108.9%) secures the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 13 but drops one spot on last month to #6. The Ford Kuga storms into 8th place – a new record – earning a spot in the YTD Top 30 directly to #17, up 857.5% on the same period last year… The Peugeot 208 (+459.1%), VW Tiguan (+314.3%), Seat Leon (+275.9%), Hyundai i20 (+183.8%), Opel Astra (+118.5%) and Corsa (+117.4%) all score surreal gains in the remainder of the Top 30.
