Colombia Full Year 2020: Chevrolet Onix signs first win in market down -28.5%

New car sales in Colombia drop -28.5% year-on-year in 2020 to 188.665 units. Renault (-30.1%) easily repeats at #1 with 21.1% share and a 6.000+ unit margin over #2 Chevrolet (-27.4%) at 17.9% share. Mazda (-21.2%) outpaces the market and advances one spot to #3 overall at 8.5% share. It displaces Nissan (-34.3%) from the podium while Kia (-37.6%) rounds out the Top 5 like last year. Suzuki (-10.7%) and Toyota (-23%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Hyundai (-41%), Ford (-39%) and Volkswagen (-32.5%) sink. There are rare year-on-year gainers in the Top 30: Scania (+85.3%), JMC (+36.3%), Changan (+18.1%), Foton (+12.7%) and Kenworth (+8.7%).
Model-wise, the Chevrolet Onix (-8.4%) resists splendidly to sign a first ever win in Colombia with 4.6% share vs. 3.6% a year ago. Renault places four models in the Top 5 like in 2019: the Kwid (-11.6%) climbs four spots to #2, followed by the Duster (-28.8%) up two ranks, the Sandero Stepway (-31.9%) down one and the Logan (-38%) down three. The Kia Picanto (-12.8%) follows while the 2019 leader, the Renault Sandero (-43.6%) is down six spots to #7. By far the most popular launch of the year at #8 overall, the Mazda CX-30 even ranked #1 in March. Other great performers in the Top 30 include the Toyota Corolla (+54.1%), Nissan Versa (+1.2%), Chevrolet NHR (-4.3%) and Suzuki Vitara (-9.6%).
