• The cargo should be within the maximum gross vehicle weight rating. The safe range of weight includes the curb weight which is the weight of the empty vehicle, the passengers, and any other weight added to the vehicle. 

• Hauling a trailer won’t be the same as when you’re driving your vehicle alone. Understand that you must reduce your speed, especially on the highway, to make braking easier.  

• When hauling cargo uphill, shift a gear lower to reduce the stress on the engine. Minimize the speed if you have to drive uphill. 

• A trailer adds additional length to the vehicle you drive, so be careful while passing other vehicles as you might cause an accident.
