Uruguay July 2020: Chevrolet (+23.9%) defies market down -17.5%

The Chevrolet Onix is the best-selling vehicle in Uruguay in July.

Uruguayan new car sales slow down their fall in July at -17.5% year-on-year to 2.942, bringing the year-to-date tally down -27.7% to 16.213. Even though it falls slightly faster than the market, Volkswagen (-19.6%) retains the monthly top spot but also snaps the YTD lead off Suzuki (-48.4%) in complete freefall at #5 in July. Renault (+0.5%) and more impressively Chevrolet (+23.9%) score the only gains in the Top 5 while Ford (+43.3%) and Nissan (+35%) also shine in the Top 10. Jeep (+337.5%), Changan (+140%), BYD (+38.5%), Kia (+33.3%), Honda (+26.8%) and BMW (+23.1%) stand out further down. The Chevrolet Onix/Onix Plus steps up to first place in the models ranking above the Renault Kwid, the latter retaining its YTD top spot, with the VW Up rounding out the podium above the Renault Oroch and Chevrolet Onix Joy/Joy Plus. Volkswagen also places the Saveiro at #10 and the T-Cross at #11.
