This month, all nations are in positive except England (-7.5%) at 72.534, and given England accounts for 84% of all UK sales in August, it single-handedly pulls the UK market into negative at -5.8%. But Northern Ireland is up 6.6% to 3.618, Scotland up 2.5% to 7.392 and Wales up 0.4% to 3.230. Year-to-date, Wales performs best this time at -32.4% to 34.802, Northern Ireland is off -39% to 23.179, England drops -39.7% to 789.390 and Scotland tumbles down -43.7% to 65.835.
The Ford Fiesta only manages to top two UK nations this month: England and Scotland, while it ranks #2 in Wales and down to #8 in Northern Ireland which makes it lose the YTD top spot there. Other winners in August are the Hyundai Tucson in Northern Ireland and Vauxhall Corsa in Wales where it is up 4-fold on August 2019. The VW Golf ranks #2 in England and the Ford Focus is #2 in Northern Ireland where it snaps the YTD top spot and #3 in England. But like the past two months, the hero in August is the Ford Puma: cracking the English Top 10 at #4 which means it now ranks inside the Top 10 of every UK nation, hitting a record #2 in Scotland and record #4 in Wales as well as #6 in Northern Ireland. Other podium finishers are the Ford Kuga #3 in Northern Ireland, the Vauxhall Corsa #3 in Scotland and the MG ZS #3 in Wales. Finally, the Kia Niro breaks into the Top 10 of two nations: Scotland (#7) and England (#9).
