Croatia August 2020: Kia (+82.1%) bucks market down another -23.9%
Kia sales surge 82.1% year-on-year in a market down -23.9%.
New car sales in Croatia endure a 6th consecutive double-digit year-on-year decline in August at -23.9% to 2.599 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally down -47.3% to 25.167. Brand leader Volkswagen (-36.6%) falls markedly faster than the market but retains the pole position at 16.6% share vs. 15.6% YTD, with Skoda (-16.1%) and Renault (-14.5%) both containing their loss to below the market rate in the remainder of the podium. In 4th place Kia (+82.1%) completely bucks the depleted context to lodge the largest gain in the Top 15 but particularly low year-ago volumes mean it only hit 5.5% share as a result, only slightly higher than its YTD level at 5.3%. Audi (+15.6%) scores the only additional gain in the Top 16 just as Opel (-3.9%), Mercedes (-7.8%) and BMW (-8.2%) resist with single-digit drops. Jeep (+1800%), Tesla (+200%), Jaguar (+100%) and Land Rover (+14.3%) are also up. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-32.3%) remains #1 above the VW Polo (+69.3%), Renault Clio (+87%), Dacia Sandero (+45.1%) and Opel Corsa (+106.1%) all posting fantastic gains. The Jeep Renegade soars to #8, the Fiat Panda (+5.7%) to #9, the Kia Ceed to #17 and the Peugeot 2008 remains in the Top 20 at #20.
