10/09 update: Now with Top 30 brands and models.

As coronavirus total cases surge from 306.181 to 641.574 in the past month alone, lockdowns were reimposed in Bogota and other areas of the country throughout August and as a result the Colombian new vehicle market worsens again in August at -43.2% year-on-year to 13.226 units, an almost identical rate as the YTD volume down -43% to 100.102. The Top 10 brands are unchanged on July, with Renault (-42.4%) holding onto the top spot above Chevrolet (-34.1%), Mazda (-40.2%), Nissan (-45.3%) and Kia (-48.5%). Once again Chinese truck maker Foton (-3.9%) resists best and manages to stay inside the Top 10 vs. #13 so far in 2020. Below, JMC (+150%), Scania (+112.1%), Kenworth (+106.1%), Changan (+65.2%) and JAC (+3.8%) all manage a year-on-year gain in the reminder of the Top 30. Model-wise, the Chevrolet Onix (-15.7%) confirms it is the country’s new favourite with a 5th consecutive win above the Renault Kwid (-22.6%), Duster (-36.7%) and Sandero Stepway (-44.4%). The Mazda CX-30 leaps back up to a fantastic 6th place.
