Denmark June 2020: Ford Kuga surprise leader in market down -13.4%
The Ford Kuga is the best-selling vehicle in Denmark in June.
New car sales in Denmark edge down -13.4% year-on-year in June to 17.936 units, one of the best holds we have recorded in Europe so far, leading to a First Half tally down -27.7% to 88.427. Atop the brands ranking, Volkswagen (-6.2%) outpaces the market to 13.6% share vs. 12.8% so far this year but it’s Ford (+30.6%) that makes itself noticed with an 8 spot surge on May to #2 and the largest gain in the Top 7. Peugeot (+9.4%) and Skoda (+8.4%) also shine in positive, Citroen (-5.1%) limits its fall but Renault (-42%) and Toyota (-29.7%) dive. Kia (+85.6%) and Suzuki (+36.5%) sign the best year-on-year improvements in the Top 10, while further down Porsche (+145.5%), Mini (+50%), Land Rover (+34.8%), Mitsubishi (+23%), Volvo (+20.1%) and Fiat (+15%) stand out while MG climbs to #28.
The Ford Kuga (+920.5%) is up 10-fold on its June 2019 score and 49 spots on May to snap its very first Danish victory thanks to the new PHEV variant. This is complete unchartered territory for the Kuga in Denmark as its previous recent best ranking was a low #30 in August 2016. The Nissan Qashqai (-14.2%) roughly marches the market which is enough to lift it back up 4 ranks on May to #2, with the VW Golf (+100%) brilliantly rounding out the podium. The Renault Clio (-35.8%) is down two spots to #4, the Peugeot 208 (+5.9%) remains at #5 and #1 YTD while the Kia Ceed (+92%), Toyota Yaris (+35.8%), Skoda Octavia (+28.5%) and Citroen C1 (+20.5%) also shine in the Top 10. The Skoda Kamiq (#34) tops recent launches above the Kia Xceed (#60) and Ford Puma (#77).
