Taiwan May 2020: Lexus (+43.4%) swims upstream in market down -11.4%
The Lexus NX ranks #10 in Taiwan in May and year-to-date.
New car sales in Taiwan are off -11.4% year-on-year in May to 33.528 units, a similar drop as in April (-11.1%) which tilts the year-to-date tally into negative at -0.2% to 168.396. Toyota (-0.8%) only edges down to hold 27% share ahead of Mitsubishi/CMC (-8.9%) at 11.5% and Nissan/Infiniti (-15.9%) at 7.4%. Lexus (+43.4%) posts by far the largest gain in the Top 10 and one of only two alongside BMW (+3.4%), Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Altis (-10.1%) repeats at #1 but still can’t dislodge the Toyota RAV4 (-22.8%) from the YTD top spot, now trailing by just under 1.300 units. The Nissan Kicks (-10.4%) is up 3 spots on April to land on the third step of the podium, distancing the CMC Veryca (+0.9%), Honda CR-V (-9%) and Toyota Sienta (-4.4%). The Lexus NX (+279.8%) is up 4-fold to #10, with the Mitsubishi Delica (+28.8%) the only additional Top 10 model in positive. Below, the Lexus UX (+115.4%), BMW X3 (+51.2%) and Hyundai Porter (+49.4%) impress. The Mazda CX-30 tops recent launches at #31.
