Lithuania May 2020: Fiat Tipo #1 in market down -51.5%
The Fiat Tipo is #1 in Lithuania in May but 99% are re-exported.
The Lithuanian new car market drops -51.5% year-on-year in May to 2.057 units, tilting the year-to-date tally into negative at -1.3% to 18.699. Fiat (-49.7%) remains by far the most “popular” brand in the country with a mammoth 37% share, however 757 of the 762 new cars the Italian brand registered in Lithuanian this month were immediately deregistered in order to be re-exported to other European Unions markets, and it was also the case for 27 of the 32 Jeeps registered in May. The true best-seller in the country is Toyota (-30.8%) at 17.5% share ahead of Skoda (-23.8%) at 10%, Volkswagen (-53.4%) at 7.6% and Peugeot at 3.6%. Model-wise, the Fiat Tipo leads the way at 21.5% share above the Fiat 500 at 12.6% with the Toyota Corolla and RAV4 in tow and the Fiat Panda making it to #6.
