Hong Kong (China) March 2020: Tesla, Subaru, Audi, Honda shine in recovering market (-13%)
Subaru sales are up 35% in a market down -13%.
New car sales in Hong Kong continue to recover in March at -13% year-on-year to 2.884 units leading to a year-to-date tally down -23.4% to 7.137. This is a much better hold than both February (-23.7%) and January (-33.2%) as the territory is taking measures to control the spread of COVID-19. Toyota (-37.2%) remains the most popular carmaker here despite a ghastly drop while Tesla (+2694.4%) is up 3 spots on February to #2 overall, faithful to its end-of-quarter backloading of sales. Honda (+2.7%) is actually up year-on-year but down one spot on last month to #2, followed by Mercedes (-7.7%), BMW (-43.1%) and Nissan (-18%). Subaru (+35%) and Audi (+3.2%) also post gains in the remainder of the Top 10. while Porsche (-13.5%) is up one spot to #9.
