Ivory Coast April 2020: market stops as state of emergency extended

Our Ivory Coast contact has recently let us know that new car sales in the country are likely to amount to zero for the month of April as the Office of Registrations was closed. The Ivory Coast declared a state of emergency and a nationwide night curfew on March 23 and a ban on all non-essential transport between the between the greater Abidjan region and the rest of the country on March 29. Originally scheduled to last until April 15, these measures were later extended to April 30 then May 8 and May 15 in the greater Abidjan region, the most affected. As of May 24, there were 2.376 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 30 deaths, modest figures compared to the rest of the world.
