Jordan Q1 2020: Toyota Land Cruiser topples Hyundai Tucson, sales down -9.5%

The Jordanian new car market drops -9.5% year-on-year over the First Quarter of 2020 to 6.793 registrations. Toyota (-1.9%) resists significantly better and improves its market share to 34.1%, while the next 4 brands all fall by the double-digits, led by Hyundai (-19.7%) down to 20.9% share above Kia (-18.6%), Nissan (-32.2%) and Isuzu (-17.1%). Chevrolet (+381%) operates a spectacular turnaround and shoots up 8 spots on Q1 2019 to #6 overall. Lexus (+90.4%), Mitsubishi (+14.5%) and Suzuki (+8.2%) also secure rare year-on-year gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Hino (+510%), GMC (+276.5%) and Peugeot (+195.8%) all stand out with spectacular upticks.
Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (-33.2%) overtakes the Hyundai Tucson (-37.1%) which led the FY2019 charts but not the Q1 2019 ranking. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+65.4%) steps up 3 spots to land on the podium, distancing the Toyota Hilux (+0.2%) and Isuzu N-Series (-13.9%), making the Top Five 100% light trucks. The Hyundai Elantra (+642.5%) is up 29 spots on Q1 2019 to top the passenger cars ranking at #6 overall, while the Chevrolet Tahoe (+3000%) is up to #7. The Toyota RAV4 returns to the Jordanian ranking at #12, and the Kia Pegas is the best-selling recent launch at #29 ahead of the Lexus UX (#62) and Hyundai Kona (#83).
