China retail 7-12 April 2020: Sales up 14% year-on-year

For the first time since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, Chinese car sales are up year-on-year.

According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), new passenger car sales in China have spectacularly bounced back up 14% year-on-year over the week of April 7-12, marking the first weekly year-on-year rise since the start of the coronavirus outbreak in late January, and potentially even since the Chinese market started to sputter in June 2018. Over the first 12 days of April, retail sales in China are dow -12% year-on-year.
