Indonesia January 2020: Suzuki (+27.1%), Honda (+27%) defy market down -3%

Suzuki Ertiga sales surge 178.3% year-on-year in Indonesia in January.

New vehicle sales in Indonesia manage to contain their loss to -3% to 79.983 units. Toyota (-3.9%) follows the market to 30.2% share vs. 32.2% over the FY2019, as does Daihatsu (-4%) back to the #2 spot it held over the FY2019 with a strong 17.7% share. Just below, Honda (+27%) and Suzuki (+27.1%) defy the negative market with fantastic gains leading them to 16% and 13.1% share respectively, to be compared with 13.3% and 9.7% over the FY2019. In contrast Mitsubishi (-21.6%) is stuck at #5 above Fuso (-33.3%), Isuzu (-18.9%) and Hino (-46.8%) all in dire straits. Nissan (+51.2%) and Wuling (+35.8%) round out the Top 10 in spectacular fashion, while further down Volkswagen (+720%), Renault (+400% thanks to the new Triber), Lexus (+255.6%), Dongfeng (+135.9%), FAW (+106.3%) and Hyundai (+46.1%) all post stratospheric gains. Model-wise, the Toyota Avanza (+18.5%) reclaims the top spot above the Honda Brio (-6.5%) and Mitsubishi Xpander (-12.5%) just as the Suzuki Ertiga (+178.3%), Honda HR-V (+117.6%), Toyota Calya (+16.7%) and Daihatsu Ayla (+12.5%) shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
