BMW holds a record 10.4% of the Belgian new car market in January.

3/03 update: Now with Top 120 models.

Belgium is the first main European market so far to show a (very timid) year-on-year gain in January at +1.5% to 51.840 registrations. There’s a surprise atop the Belgian brands ranking this month: BMW (+40.3%) soars  to a stunning victory, its 5th ever in the country after January 2016, January 2017. September 2018 and October 2018, also breaking its all-time market share record at 10.4%. Traditional leader Volkswagen (+0.6%) is relegated to 2nd place ahead of Peugeot (-11.1%) and Mercedes (+2.3%). Audi (+25.8%) and Skoda (+19.7%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Renault (-20.9%) and Opel (-10.8%) struggle. Below, Bentley (+80%), Tesla (+63.6%), Porsche (+58.3%), DS (+36.8%), Alpine (+37.5%), Ssangyong (+35.4%), Seat (+23.3%), Jaguar (+22.8%), Toyota (+16.4%), Jeep (+12%), Dacia (+11.6%) and Hyundai (+10%) stand out with spectacular gains.

In the models ranking, the Mercedes A-Class scores its 4th win in the past 6 months, edging past the VW Golf for just 5 units while the Opel Corsa (+71.9%) rounds out the podium thanks to the new model. The Opel Crossland X surges to a record 4th place just as the BMW 3 Series (+69.4%) closes out the Top 5. In fact, BMW justifies its record run by placing an incredible four nameplates in the January Top 10: the 3 Series (#5), 1 Series (#7), X1 (#9) and X5 (#10).
