Uruguay January 2020: Suzuki Alto tops market up 0.3%
The Suzuki Alto is the best-selling vehicle in Uruguay in January.
New car sales in Uruguay edge up 0.3% year-on-year in January to 2.983 units. Renault (-10.9%) keeps the lead despite a steep drop, distancing Volkswagen (+31.5%), Suzuki (+7.4%) and Chevrolet (+15.1%) all in outstanding shape. Hyundai (+23.2%) also shines in the remainder of the Top 10 but Peugeot (-18.7%), Nissan (-12.9%) and Toyota (-10.7%) all struggle. Chinese carmakers Chery, Great Wall, Dongfeng, Geely, Changan and BYD all fit within the Top 20, as as a whole the Chinese are up 18.4% to hold 9.9% of the Uruguayan market this month vs. 7.6% over the FY2019. This month we can share with you for the first time a complete monthly models ranking for Uruguay. It shows the Suzuki Alto in pole position followed only 3 units below by the VW Saveiro. The Fiat Strada, Renault Kwid and Oroch complete the Top 5 while the previous generation Onix, renamed Onix Joy, shines at #7.
