After seemingly recovering in 2018 (+24.3%), the Syrian new car market is back to hell in 2019 at -18% to just 8.136 registrations. Hyundai (-3.4%) at 70.9% share – which is ten percentage points better than in 2018 – and Kia (-39.2%) at 29% – ten less than a year ago – are the only carmakers still active in the country, with Nissan down to just 7 units. The Hyundai Tucson (+62.1%) spectacularly takes control of the models charts: one in three new vehicles sold in Syria in 2019 is a Tucson. The Hyundai H1/Starex (+12%) leaps up 4 spots to #2 while the Elantra (-56%) makes the podium 100% Hyundai. The Kia Cerato (-38.1%) and Sorento (-43.1%) follow.
