Slovenia January 2020: Volkswagen (+17.6%) ignores market down -8.3%
The VW Tiguan is up to a record 2nd place in January.
New car sales in Slovenia dive -8.3% year-on-year in January to 6.215 registrations. Volkswagen (+17.6%) goes completely against the grain to return to the pole position it held over the FY2019 with a strong 18% share, distancing Renault (-12.7%) suffering from a particularly high January 2019 comparison base but close to its traditional level at 14% share and Skoda (-1.2%) resisting well and improving to 12% share vs. 9.9% over FY2019. Fiat (+188.2%) posts a spectacular gain to #4, with Toyota (+37.2%) and Seat (+24.9%) also doing really well in the remainder of the Top 10.
Model-wise, the locally-made Renault Clio is back to its traditional first spot, with the VW Tiguan lurching up 10 ranks on December to a new record #2 spot and the Fiat 500 rounding out the podium vs. #13 over the FY2019. The VW T-Cross is up 15 ranks on last month to #4 for an 8th Top 10 finish out of a 9-month career, the VW Golf up 14 to #6 and the VW Polo up 13 to #8 just as the Skoda Karoq repeats in the Top 10 and the Skoda Kamiq shoots up 33 spots to #11.
