Malaysia November 2019: Proton (+100.1%), Toyota (+81.4%) lift market up 8.9%
Proton sales double year-on-year in November.
New vehicle sales in Malaysia soar 8.9% year-on-year in November to 52.584 units, meaning the year-to-date volume is now down just -0.2% to 549.445. Perodua (-3.3%) goes against the grain, falling to 38.8% share vs. 40.4% so far in 2019 whereas Proton (+100.1%) exactly doubles its sales year-on-year to hit 18.3% of its home market, over two percentage points above its YTD level. Toyota (+81.4%) also scores an outstanding surge at #3 but all remaining Top 10 brands bar Isuzu (+1.8%) are down, with Mazda (-57.5%), Nissan (-31%) and BMW (-28.7%) the hardest hit. Further down, Renault (+135%), Lexus (+133.9%), Volvo (+74.8%), Porsche (+60%) and Daihatsu (+50.7%) are among the most dynamic.
