Uruguay October 2019: Volkswagen (+37.1%) cements lead in market up 1.2%

Volkswagen is up to 19.3% share of the Uruguayan market in October.

In October the Uruguayan new car market manages its first year-on-year uptick since last July at +1.2% to 3.492 units, leading to a year-to-date volume down -8.6% to 32.753. Volkswagen (+37.1%) cements its newfound YTD leadership thanks to a spectacular surge this month to 19.3% share vs. 14.5% so far in 2019, distancing Renault (+20%) at 14.8% and Suzuki (-40%) in dire straits at 10.6% share. Chevrolet (+140.3%), Hyundai (+50.5%) and Citroen (+37.3%) also shine in the Top 10 whereas Nissan (-35.1%) and Peugeot (-21%) tumble down.
