Oman Q3 2019: Toyota Hilux takes control of market down -9.4%

The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in Oman so far in 2019.

The Omani new car market remains stuck in recession with Q3 volumes down another -9.4% year-on-year to 27.748 units meaning the year-to-date tally now drops -13.2% to 81.389. Toyota (+2.9%) continues to escape the rot and advances further to an oppressive 55.4% market share vs. 51.8% so far in 2019. Nissan (-35%) holds 17.5% of Oman sales in Q3 while Hyundai (-11.4%) is at 6.1% just above Lexus (+1.1%) also up to 5.4% and Kia (-29.4%) imploding to 3.8%. This means the Top 5 brands in Oman over Q3 account for 88.2% of the market… Mazda (+9%), Isuzu (+8.8%) and Mitsubishi (+0.2%) are also up in the Top 10.

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-1.6%) steals the show and the top spot with 12.5% share over Q3, also earning the YTD pole position above the Toyota Land Cruiser (-27%) at 10.7% for Q3 and the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+0.1%). The Nissan Sunny (+72.4%) and Patrol (-57.3%) complete the Top 5 while Toyota holds all remaining spots in the Top 10 with the Fortuner (+95.9%), Corolla (+25.6%) and Yaris (+8.3%) managing an uptick. Notice also the Kia Telluride (#68), MG6 (#72) and Lexus UX (#79) making their way into the Q3 Top 100.
