Jordan Q3 2019: Hyundai Tucson takes charge in market shooting up 29.9%
The Hyundai Tucson holds a mammoth 13.9% share in Jordan over Q3.
New light vehicle sales in Jordan bounce back into positive for the first time since 2017, with Q3 sales shooting up 29.9% year-on-year to 7.770 units, tilting the year-to-date tally up 6.9% to 22.811. Responsible for this recovery are two carmakers: Hyundai up 51.5% and taking charge of the Jordanian brands charts at 32.9% share vs. 25.7% year-to-date, but also Toyota (+60.3%) losing its top spot at 23% share vs. 30.5% YTD but very dynamic year-on-year. Kia (-1.8%) is missing out on the market recovery but Hino (+283.3%), Isuzu (+148.6%), Honda (+64.7%) and Ford (+51.3%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
We have a big change in the Jordanian models ranking: thanks to sales more than doubling year-on-year, the Hyundai Tucson (+129.9%) comfortably snaps the YTD top spot off the Toyota Land Cruiser (-16.1%) down to a paltry 11th place over Q3. Hyundai even manages a 1-2 over the period with the Elantra (+34.1%) taking the 2nd spot. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+545%) leaps onto the podium above the Isuzu N-Series (+221.4%), Toyota Hilux (+50.4%) and Kia Cerato (+304.5%). The Hyundai H1/Starex (+858.3%), i10 (+205.6%) and Toyota Corolla (+130.4%) also post brilliant upticks in the remainder of the Top 10. The Hyundai Creta (#17) and Kia Pegas (#36) shine among newcomers.
