Luxembourg August 2019: Renault (#3), Porsche (#12), Captur (#1) shine in market down 9%

Porsche holds 2.8% of the Luxembourg market in August vs. 1.4% YTD.

The Luxembourg new car market drops -9% year-on-year in August to 3.811 registrations as the post-WLTP hangover rears its head, tilting the year-to-date tally into negative territory at -0.1% or -43 sales to 39.730. Volkswagen (12.1%) remains the most popular brand in the country but is one percentage point below its YTD level of 13.1%, whereas Mercedes (10.8%) is 1.6 point above and Renault (10.3%) is up 3 spots on July to stand at a whopping 3.6 point above its 6.7% YTD share, knocking BMW (7%), Audi (6.2%) and Peugeot (6.1%) down one spot each. Fiat (3.6%) is up 6 ranks on last month to #8, Seat (3%) up two to #10, Porsche (2.8%) up 8 to #12 and double its YTD share, Jeep (1.9%) up 6 to #17, Alpine (0.4%) up 5 to #32 and Borgward reenters the ranking at #48 with one lonely sale.
