Pakistan August 2019: Suzuki Alto holds 33.6% of market imploding -42.1%

The new Suzuki Alto has taken the Pakistani market by storm.

Sales of locally-produced light vehicles freefall -42.1% year-on-year in August to 10.222 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -17.6% to 143.020. Suzuki (-23.8%) limits its fall to reach a record 64.7% share vs. 57.2% YTD, but both Toyota (-56.7%) and Honda (-66.8%) implode and newcomers Isuzu and JAC only add up to 1.1% share. The new Suzuki Alto cements its grip on the Pakistani sales charts, snapping the #1 spot for the 2nd consecutive month with a mammoth 33.6% of the market vs. 36.4% in July. The Toyota Corolla (-58.9%) sells almost exactly at half this rate and dives to just 16.9% share vs. 22.7% so far in 2019. The Suzuki Cultus (-6.6%) resists well at #3 ahead of the Suzuki Wagon R (-73.7%) and Ravi (-66.7%).
