Uruguay July 2019: Suzuki (+526.2%), Chinese (+93.3%) lift market up a spectacular +30.7%

Chery (+866.7%) is back into the Uruguayan sales charts.

New light vehicle sales in Uruguay confirm they are on the mend with a 2nd consecutive year-on-year gain, and a very impressive one at that: +30.7% to 3.565 units, yet due to a particularly drab start of the year the YTD volume remains frankly down for now at -10.5% to 22.424. Volkswagen (+0.9%) manages to return to the brands top spot for the third time in the past four months, despite frankly trailing the market. Strikingly, the next 7 best-selling brands all post double-digit gains, but only Suzuki (+526.5%) posting an extravagant lift, Toyota (+34.1%) and Chevrolet (+30.8%) outpace the market. Chery (+866.7%) returns to the Uruguayan charts directly at the #1 Chinese spot and #11 overall ahead of Dongfeng (+260.9%), Great Wall (+57.9%), Changhe (+1250%) and Geely (+38.9%) all fitting within the Top 20. In fact, Chinese brands as a whole almost double their sales year-on-year at +93.3% to 10.6% share vs. 8.1% and -10.7% YTD. Audi (+137.5%), Honda (+115.8%) and Mazda (+87.5%) also make themselves noticed.
